WAM
(Wellness and Movement)
9th, 10th, and 11th graders at CCSC are expected to fulfill a Wellness and Movement (WAM) requirement during each semester of the school year. In many cases, this credit can be applied via participation on a CCSC athletic team or through an enrichment course. WAM credit via participation on an athletic team only applies to the semester of the sport’s specific playing season. For example, soccer is a fall sport, so playing on the soccer team fulfills the WAM credit for semester one of the academic year. Basketball is a winter sport but takes place in both semesters one and two. Therefore, basketball fulfills WAM credit for both semesters.
Credit can also be applied if the student is involved in an activity outside of school, such as martial arts, a dance club, community based athletic team, or a if the student is a regular member of a local YMCA or gym. In these cases, we need official documentation (a form supplied by CCSC) from the director, coach, or organizer in charge of the team or activity.
