Elysee hangs in the air and finds an open teammate
BOSTON, Mass. -- Boston Collegiate overtook CCSC in the MCSAO standings last night with a 46-40 win in the South End. With the victory, BC moved into seventh place with a record of 3-6 and forced the Cougars to the eighth slot at 3-7. In a rematch of an earlier game in which CCSC came out victorious, the host Hurricanes overcame a spectacular double-double performance by sophomore Michael Elysee to seal the win.
CCSC was down 19-14 at halftime after eighth grader Robel Fitiwi came off the bench to nail a three pointer. He just missed another one at the buzzer that would have put the Cougars down just two points.
Despite Elysee's 12 points and 11 rebounds, nine of which were offensive, BC held on for the win behind its star eighth grade player's 19 points. CCSC also received double-digit scoring from sophomore Bayoan Garcia who had 11 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Ninth grader Geo Morgan added six points, four steals, and three blocks.
CCSC takes on MATCH in their second game of the year on Friday night at Brighton High School with a 7:30 start.
