Boys' Basketball Cruises to Victory

Record output by Cougars dismantles Champion Charter

February 5, 2007

All of the Cougars contributed to the statistics on Friday night
BROCKTON, Mass. -- The CCSC boys' basketball team earned a victory on Friday evening as its continued defensive pressure helped it cruise to a 75-49 victory over Champion Charter (1-10).

Although the visiting Cougars (4-7) were only up a few possessions at halftime, they continued their relentless agressiveness that helped turn 27 team steals into 31 field goals.  In true team fashion, of those field goal conversions, 19 were assisted by teammates.  CCSC went to the free throw line 34 times and hauled in 21 offensive rebounds.  Six players had three or more steals and five players had at least three assists.

Do-it-all guard Bayoan Garcia scored a career high 26 points while grabbing eight rebounds and adding five take aways.  Wale Wright also scored a career high 14 points while Chuck Tibbs totaled career numbers with his first double-double (10 points and 11 rebounds).  Michael Elysee added nine points and seven rebounds and Geo Morgan tallied seven points and a team leading 13 boards.

The events in the game allowed other CCSC players the opportunity for quality minutes.  Ehsan Syed scored the first points of his career and seventh grader Daniel Jean-Louis ran the point guard slot and grabbed two rebounds.

CCSC next hosts rival Prospect Hill on Friday night at MIT.
