Prospect Hill Shows Its Experience

Wizards Win, 50-39

December 20, 2006

CCSC has remained focused and tight-knit despite outcomes
SOMERVILLE, Mass. -- Prospect Hill demonstrated its experience last night as the host Wizards took an early lead and never looked back.  PHA scored the first five points of the contest before CCSC was on the board, but a low scoring first half resulted in a 15-6 halftime score in favor of the hosts.

As the second stanza opened, PHA tried to pull away, but adjustments by the Cougars allowed the visitors to pull within three, 19-16.  After a Prospect Hill time-out, however, the Wizards proceeded to go on an 11-0 run.  The Cougars' drought finally ended when CCSC scored on one of its several lay-ups to make it 34-18.

CCSC did not go away, and after forcing PHA turnovers and breaking the Wizard press, the Cougars found themselves down only seven.  A huge Prospect Hill three pointer extended the spread back to double digits, but CCSC continued to score.  It wasn't enough, though, as both teams traded baskets the last five minutes.  CCSC was forced to foul and Prospect Hill held on to its fourth victory of the season.

Bayoan Garcia led all scorers with 18 points as he shot a blistering 73% from the floor.  The sophomore point guard added three assists while Geo Morgan and Chuck Tibbs combined for 10 points and 11 rebounds.  CCSC (1-3), who has only lost by a combined 14 points this year, hosts Boston Collegiate on Friday (sorry, no students allowed at this game - only parents/guardians).
