The All-Star weekend was great. When my uncle told me that I could go to the all-star game I was so happy. It was like getting told that the Celtics had won a championship which is not likely. When he told me, I was surprised. He knew I liked basketball, but I didn’t know that he knew somebody that worked at the Thomas & Mack Center. He told me that he got free tickets to the all-star game.
I went on Saturday night first because that was when the Slam Dunk Contest, Three-Point Contest, Playstation Skills Challenge, and Haier Shooting Stars Contest took place. The best event out of all of them was the Slam Dunk Contest because I was cheering for the Celtics player, Gerald

Green. I knew he was going to win it because he could jump really high and he had style in his dunks. He did win it and that was the highlight of the Celtics season this year because they aren’t any good.
My favorite dunk of his was when he did the “Dee Brown” on last year’s champion Nate Robinson. My favorite dunk in the whole dunk contest was the one where Dwight Howard slapped the backboard 12 feet up in the air and also dunked with his other hand. It was very creative, but he didn’t get a perfect 50, which was crazy.
The winner of the 3-point contest was Jason Kapono. He tied the record set by Mark Price in the final round with 24 points. The winner of the Skills Challenge was the defending champion Dwayne Wade. The other contestants were Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, and Chris Paul. Dwayne beat Kobe Bryant’s score of 26.4 with 31.3. The new winner of the Haier Shooting stars was the Detroit Team. Most of the girls made the half-court shot for most teams.

And then it was time for the big event: the 2007 NBA all-star game. Everybody was wondering how Gilbert Arenas would do for his first start and against Kobe Bryant, the scoring machine. Even though the East all-stars didn’t win, Arenas did pretty well, and his teammate Lebron James led the East with 28 points, six rebounds, and six assists. He also led the whole NBA with the most votes for the all-star game. Also, Dwight Howard had 20 points and 12 boards as he was beasting on Amare Stoudemire. Now, the West, who won the game 153-132, had many contributors. Kobe Bryant took the MVP home for the second time with 31 points, five rebounds, six assists, and six steals. Amare Stoudemire had 29 points and nine rebounds. Carmelo Anthony had 20 points and nine rebounds. The funniest moment was when Shaquille O’Neal ran point guard and was trying to cross up Mehmet Okur and he missed his shot and after, Carmelo Anthony (who was on the bench at the time) jumped off the bench and started laughing. The other highlight was the Halftime show that was held by three Grammy award winners: Christina Aguilera, Toni Braxton, and Mary J. Blige. They did a wonderful job. The NBA all-star weekend was good and was a once in a lifetime journey.
