The Lady Cougars brought home a win last Friday, in their game against Pioneer Academy. With some great catches by Miriam Gheraissa at third, even holding onto the ball as she was tackled, a double play made by Alexa Cruz and Ieshah Sadbury the Cougars dominated. A catch in center field by Donyea Powell helped the cougar maintian the score by ending the fifth. Alexa Cruz had six strikeouts and Miriam Gheraissa, Phaedra Mehu, and Ieshah Sadbury all had RBIs. The game ball went to Dorothy Bacci, for hitting the winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth, ending with a score of 5-3. Wish the Lady Cougars luck for tonight in their game against Foxboro.

The Lady Cougars played another fantastic game against Foxboro last night. Dorothy Bacci must love second base on both the defense and offense. First, she partnered with Phaedra for an OUT-standing play to tag out a steal. Dorothy also blasted a double into left field bringing home a runner. Ieshah mirrored Dorothy’s talent on the mound and at bat. She batted in yet another runner while pitching a solid 6 innings that included only 3 walks. At bat, Zenia, Phaedra, and Nyoka knocked out a few singles. Phaedra earned the game ball for her positivity on the field and her slamtastic play at second base.
Oh, and … Ms. Morin also earned a game ball for her meticulous score-keeping which earned the team 2 outs. Just ask her or a player how! Ultimately, the Cougars fell 2- 7, but it the score was not a true reflection of how well they played against the defending champions.
The Cougar softball team suffered a tough defeat last night against a solid AMSA squad. After a few tough innings, the Cougars came back in the last with bats by Zenia Mathis and Ahna Jahir. Ahna earned the game ball for that hit and her fantastic focus during the game.
