Hype & Glory

Constructing the Hype, Capturing the Glory: Sports Information and Journalism at CCSC (Hype and Glory, the SSID) will introduce students to the process of journalism through the examination of sports writing, photography, and videography and various publications. Students will publish work on the CCSC athletics pages, produce sports journalism, and manage all aspects of the CCSC student sports information department, including the promotion and coverage of all school sporting events. |

Students will explore the exciting and delicious world of baking through hands-on activities. Students will also create a cookbook of favorite, successfully tested recipes. |

We will learn many stretching techniques that will help you relax and increase your strength and flexibility. Did you know that many professional athletes practice yoga to improve their flexibility? Do you love movies? Have you ever wondered about all of the “great” movies before your time or movies from other cultures and countries? If so, join us for a thought-provoking film class. We will watch movies together, keep a movie journal, eat popcorn, and discuss the films we see. At the end of the course, we’ll develop a plot and poster for a movie of our own. |

Run for Your Life!

Ready…get set…go! Here’s a chance to get outside, move around, and see what your body can do. This is a serious running class. So, if you are interested in learning how to push yourself mentally and physically in a team-oriented atmosphere, come join us. Our goal is to work up to a 3-mile run. Outdoor Leadership

Have you ever climbed a mountain? This course will teach you what you need to know to get there. We will cover basic outdoor and wilderness survival skills. There is a mandatory 3–day overnight trip to New Hampshire October 19-21. Please check your schedule and talk to your family before signing up. By the way, the overnight trip is FREE and all camping gear is provided to you. [This course satisfies the Quarter 1 WAM requirement for 9th graders.] |

Express yourself through a variety of media, such as collage, painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, and poetry. Use art to explore how you see yourself in relation to others and what experiences have shaped your point of view. At the end of the course we’ll put together an art gallery for the school. There is also an opportunity to enter an art competition. |

In Hot Beats you’ll learn how to use Reason, the top beat-making software out there, to make beats you hear backing up your favorite recording artists.
