More than 300 people ushered into MIT’s Walker Memorial Hall to celebrate the graduation of the Community Charter School of Cambridge’s Class of 2011.

In his address, Valedictorian Farhan Altaf of Cambridge quoted musician John Lennon as he urged students to aspire to be “happy” when they grow up.

“Happiness is often cited as the key to life,” said Farhan, who is headed to Bucknell University on a full four-year scholarship. “At this moment, everyone on this stage is happy to be graduating. I ask you to remember this feeling of great satisfaction… Try to maintain this emotion, this sense of accomplishment, throughout your life."
