Welcome to Community Charter School of Cambridge

CCSC is a tuition-free, public charter school located in Kendall Square, Cambridge. Currently serving students in 7th, 8th, 9th 10th and 11th grades, CCSC engages each student in meaningful work inside the school and in the larger community through internships and community-based projects. All CCSC students are prepared to succeed in college and gain the confidence and skills to be leaders in their communities.

CCSC Summer Reading List

All students are required to complete summer reading in preparation for the coming academic year.  This reading is mandatory.  We encourage students and their families get copies of the required reading books and start reading early in the summer.There will be a graded assessment first thing next school year to determine students' understanding of the material.


Ninth Grade Summer Reading Journal Assignment

All ninth grade students at CCSC are required to read The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho over the summer in preparation for the 2008-2009 academic year. Additionally, students must complete a typed journal over the summer that addresses several questions raised by the novel.

MCAS EXAM RESULTS – 100% of CCSC 10th-graders passed the English portion of the MCAS exam and 93% passed in math. Over 86% scored either proficient or advanced.  Read more in our press release.
