Passive vs. Active Transport

Here is a list of definitions of the different types of passive transport, plus an explaination of the cell membrane and active transport.

Each item has a YouTube video link to help you visualize the process of passive transport and active transport.

Textbook - Section 7.2

Homework due Monday, Nov. 16: Read Sec. 7.2 and answer questions 1-4

Section 7.2 is all about the organelles in cells.

Key points:

- Each organelle has a specific structure and a function. (You will be expected to learn all of the organelles' functions.)

- There are similarities and differences between PLANT and ANIMAL cells.

This section covers the following topics:

1. Cell Theory

2. Types of Cells (prokaryotic & eukaryotic)

3. Common characteristics of all cells:

- Cell membrane

- Organelles

- Cytoplasm

- Cell contains DNA (or genetic information)


Life Science Textbook

This file contains the entire Life Science textbook.  If you lost your copies of the textbook chapeters, then you can use this file to look up the information you need.  You can also use this file to see color version of the diagrams in your readings.  Furthermore, this file can be used with programs like Kurzweil, if you would like support with reading the textbook.
