8th Biology: Sections 8.1 - 8.2 - 8.3

This year in Biology, we will focus on how to think like a scientist, the evolution of species, ecology, the interaction of the environment, understanding cells and how they work, and genetics.  If you are thinking that biology has nothing to do with you and your life, simply turn on the television for a few minutes and notice how many different drugs are being advertised to treat everything from the common cold to diabetes and high cholesterol. Open a newspaper or magazine, or turn on the news and listen to the number of stories about genetically engineered foods, stem cell research debates, research promising cures for diseases, and the new rules of diets to follow to keep you healthy and active and living longer.  Evidence of the importance and relevance of Biology is everywhere. But, in order to understand all of this information and to be able to make good decisions for you and your family, you will need to have an understanding of life at a cellular and microscopic level. This Biology class is designed to teach you just that.
