"Raising Good Kids in Hard Times"
Robert Evans, Ph.D.
There is no harder job than being a parent. Nothing else touches so much of a person so deeply and there is no training for it. Today parents find it harder to know how to raise children well, how to resist negative influences in the media and culture, how to help foster strength and resilience in children. Rob Evans will outline key dilemmas in raising children and adolescents today and offer concrete suggestions for successful coping at home and school.

Dr. Evans is a clinical and organizational psychologist and the Executive Director of The Human Relations Service in Wellesley, Mass. A former high school and pre-school teacher, and a former child and family therapist, he has worked with schools and families for thirty years. He has consulted to nearly a thousand schools around the country. He is the author of many articles and two books, Family Matters: How Schools Can Cope with The Crisis in Childrearing, and The Human Side of School Change.

SOCCER UPDATE:
This past weekend's soccer tournament was postponed due to inclement weather and playing conditions.  The Tournament is now scheduled for this coming weekend; November 22nd & 23rd; Saturday at 12pm, our soccer team will play on the UMass Boston field against Foxboro Regional Charter School. The field is located near the entrance of the University and cannot be missed. If you have any students on the team, I’m sure they would appreciate your support if you can make it.

If we win Saturday, we would play in the Finals on Sunday at 1pm. The finals are also at UMass-Boston.

*If for some reason we are unable to play this weekend, there will be no tournament this season.
