Student Work Permits
Who Needs a Work Permit?
Students between the ages of 14-15 must submit a work permit application to the appropriate office in order to receive an actual working permit. Please see below for instructions on where to go and what you need to bring with you when you submit your application.
Students Ages 16-17
Students who are between the ages of 16-17 do NOT need an application. All they have to do is bring proof of birth date in order to receive a work permit. Students do not need to bring their social security card; social security cards will not be accepted.
Cambridge Residents--What You Need to Know
Cambridge Residents must submit their completed applications to the Rindge School of Technical Arts (RSTA) office located at 459 Broadway. Please enter the school through the main entrance. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The application must have the 3 required signatures on the application for consideration. Students must also bring with them proof of birth date. This includes a birth certificate or a passport. Lastly, the student applying for the job must be the one to deliver the application. They will need to sign the application in front of the RSTA Office representative. The phone number to that office is 617-349-7782.
Boston Residents--What You Need to Know
Boston Residents must submit their completed applications to the Special Education Office at Boston Latin Academy in Dorchester. Students must enter the school at the 443 Warren Street entrance. There will be signs to direct you once you enter the building. Along with the completed application the student must present one form of identification. That can be a school i.d., a Massachusetts i.d., birth certificate or a social security card. For additional information you may contact the Special Education Office at 617-635-8030.
Note: Students who do not live in Cambridge or Boston can still go to the Cambridge location since they attend school in Cambridge.
