About Ms. Kielbasa

After graduating from the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in physics, Corinne Kielbasa took a job as a computer programmer.

“The job was unfulfilling in that I worked alone constantly and I felt like I was not helping anyone or using my physics knowledge,” she says. “I wanted to share my love of physics and my love of learning new things and my love of people with others.”

So she went back to school and earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard University.

Now in her second year at CCSC, Ms. Kielbasa says she definitely made the right career move.

“I love that point in the year when everyone is tired, including me, and I am teaching a really difficult topic and, all of a sudden, everyone gets it,” she says. “All of the students are excited because they understand something that I told them was going to be extremely difficult to learn.”

Ms. Kielbasa, who grew up in Feeding Hills, Massachusetts, says she also loves how dedicated, hardworking, and supportive the staff is at CCSC.  “Everyone spends hours and hours of their free time doing work to improve their classes…it feels good to spend that time working hard when everyone else is doing it,” she says.

Ms. Kielbasa says she really enjoys teaching 9th grade students. “Students generally seem to mature tremendously in the summer between 8th and 9th grade.  Students generally believe that studying and doing their work is extremely important.  You can also speak with 9th graders in a different way and you do not have to have as many formal rules and routines in the classroom.   They act more like adults than kids for the most part.”
