About Ms. Pace

For Lizzie Pace, the best part of teaching is watching the quality of a student’s work improve as she fosters a relationship with the student.

"Students who love math will love math regardless of who their teacher is. But for students who struggle with math, sharing my enthusiasm for the material and my faith in them can be crucial to their academic success."

Ms. Pace grew up in San Francisco and graduated from Brown University. She went right into teaching, serving as a full-time tutor at The Match School for a year before coming to CCSC.

“I have always loved school and so much of that was built on the relationships I had with my teachers,” Ms. Pace says. “ I did my best work because I cared about the learning that my specific teachers fostered. I want to be a part of that.”

Her teaching philosophy is built partly on ensuring that each student develops the discipline, commitment and verve to succeed at the collegiate level and partly on fostering relationships the same way her own teachers did with her.

“My favorite teacher was Mrs. Doyle. She was strict, but warm and reached out to every student in her class in different ways,” Ms. Pace says. “She was personable in the right moments and hard in the right moments, but always conveyed her really high expectations of her students in learning and performance.”
