About Mr. Magner

Michael Magner’s father, who was a teacher and a principal, set an example Mr. Magner wanted to follow in his own life.

“The positive impact he had on his students lives influenced my decision to follow in his footsteps,” says Mr. Magner, who has now been teaching for 15 years.

“For me, I think the best part of teaching is the relationships that you build with your students and enormous sense of responsibility you possess as a role model for students,” says the Plymouth, Massachusetts native. “ At the same time, the opportunity to help my students develop good decision making and critical thinking skills that they can use in the real world is quite satisfying.”

A graduate of Slippery Rock University, Mr. Magner has a master’s degree in school counseling from Bridgewater State College.

:I love teaching our 7th grade students,” he says. “Many of them have come from a variety of schools and backgrounds.  It is fascinating to watch them navigate their way through their first year at CCSC. In my mind, it is akin to a baby bird learning to take flight.  The growth and progress they make in adapting to our exceptionally high-standards is quite remarkable and highly transformative.”

Mr. Magner taught in several public schools before coming to CCSC.

“I know that CCSC is far ahead of the educational reform curve and may be the exception, when compared to most schools,” he says. “It is a highly innovative and progressive school that employs the best practices in education today to help all students learn.  Consequently, I feel blessed and fortunate to be at such a special place – great things happen here every day.”
