About Ms. Reynolds

As Mary Reynolds likes to tell it, she didn’t choose a career in education, it chose her.

“Honestly, I hadn’t planned it,” says Ms. Reynolds. “I can’t bare to walk away. The kids keep me coming back year after year.”

Ms. Reynolds, who has a degree in psychology from The College of Wooster and a master’s degree in Special Education, has been working in education for 10 years.

“I’m no longer in the classroom, so my “teaching philosophy” has changed.  I think teaching is about learning for all – the teachers, students and parents.  The “classroom” is wherever you are – teachable moments from teachers, parents and guardians, friends, are all around us, we only need to open our eyes to see them.  – and teaching comes in many forms.”

Ms. Reynolds says she really enjoys working with middle school students because they are all at such different places developmentally and because it is such a key time in the life of the student.

“They are preparing for high school, where their grades and activities are crucial in getting them in to schools where they can experience success,” she says. “This is when they do (or do not) develop the skills that will help them to reach their dreams and goals.

Helping students reach those dreams and goals, Ms. Reynolds says, is what makes CCSC such a special place to work.

“No student is overlooked or missed.  Your child will not be “lost in the crowd”.  Every child is known.  It’s not just a saying, either, it’s true!” she says. “Faculty and staff at CCSC take the time and energy to get to know ALL of our students below the surface.  If you want to your child to be supported by a community in their education, CCSC is the place to go.”
