About Me

I am the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher and coordinator, and the 504 plan coordinator.  In the past, I have also taught Humanities, both at CCSC and in the Boston Public Schools.

As an ESL teacher, I teach small group and individual classes, and I help teachers to make sure that the material they are teaching is comprehensible to English language learners.  I love helping  students as they develop their English language skills. My aim is to create curriculum that allows students to demonstrate their strengths and gain confidence in tackling thier challenges. I want students to feel comfortable taking language risks in my classroom.  It is a joy to watch students engage with topics they are interested in and grow in their ability to express their thoughts and opinions in English.

Outside of school, I like to garden, write, learn spanish, and go hiking and canoeing, as well as spend time with family and close friends. Before becoming a teacher, my favorite job was working as a wilderness instructor and course director for Outward Bound.

I earned an undergraduate degree from Hampshire College a  Master of Education degree from Umass Amherst.  I am originally from a small town in rural upstate New York, but Boston has been my home base for the last 10 years.
