“I love working with young people and, on a daily basis, I aspire to “Be the change I want to see in the world.” I think the most effective instrument for change is education.”
Now in her seventh year of teaching, Ms. Schober says part of the reason she enjoys teaching middle school students is admittedly because her own middle school years were the least favorite of her life.
“My middle school years were the worst,” she says. “I hope that I can impact those years positively for my students.”
One way Ms. Schober, who grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, tries to have a positive impact on her students comes from a lesson she learned from one of her own teachers, Mr. Hines. “He always treated us as people and not as children.”
Ms. Schober majored in Environmental Science at Boston University. She went on to earn a M.Ed. from Lesley University.
“I believe all young people have the ability to be successful with the right amount of love, support, and high expectations,” she says.
That’s part of the reason she loves working at CCSC.
“CCSC is a powerful community of teachers and learners where all students are known really well by at least one adult but in most cases by five or six adults. There is a sense of urgency that prevails our community with all eyes on success here and most importantly in the years beyond high school.”
